November concerts - Beginners

It was a great turn out for the first concert of the school year. Students ranged in age from P2 to P8 and played us a variety of pieces, mainly on the piano. Katie played her violin for us, and we had some wonderful singing and dancing from the Musical Drama group and a young vocal duet accompanied by a piano duet. Here are some pictures of the event.

And finally....

Route 13. Let It Be (The Beatles) was the song, sung with focus and compassion by Muneeb and ably accompanied by Aled, Woohyun and Murad.

Even more rocking!

The concert had a quieter section with a performance by You're an Experiment... an acoustic change from the loudness of the other bands. Who first recorded A Horse with No Name?

SAS!

Did you know that sas is Azeri for 'voice'?

It's also the name of TISA's community choir. You can learn the vocal parts in your own time, at home, in the shower or the car, using the audio files we have created. A quick email to me will get the paper music sent out to you as soon as we can.

We rehearse as and when we can, and in the meantime, the files can be found in the right hand menu, or on my profile page of imeem.com

Come join us and share your SAS with the community!

Green Elephant

Our first group performed today. They did Wonderwall, originally by Oasis. There was clear evidence of progress made as musicians and a real sense of performance style as well. Well done!

Don't forget that you should have written a final paragraph, telling me what you enjoyed about this unit, what you would do differently if you could do it again, and finally, as we end our time in music - how will you continue to make music next year?

M3 Rock Stars!

So, M3B are currently in training to be rock stars. They are learning how to play chords on keyboard and guitar, and working on a class version of the Stiff Little Fingers song 'At the Edge'. Pretty soon it will be time for them to choose their own group and song and begin working on a cover version of their own. If you see any of them, ask them "Who's the man?"!
Links in the margin for chord finders and teach yourself guitar sites - check them out and enjoy!!
Picture of SLF taken from http://www.punkhairstyles.info/ not very rock'n'roll, really!

M1B Elements Homework

In class we have been exploring and learning about the elements of music. Knowing about these elements gives us a vocabulary which helps us to discuss and evaluate music, and helps us to compose our own music ina more structured way. Your homework is to choose one of the elements, and represent it as a piece of artwork. You might choose to use drawing or painting, collage, fabrics or a combination of any art media you like. Represent the element of your choice in a creative yet simple way - have fun! You are being assessed through criteria A -Knowledge & Understanding and it will be marked out of 8 for this task. It's due to be handed in to me in class on Wednesday 23rd January.
